Magnificent in all it's glamorous glory. Stylized sterling silver '40s vintage bow spray brooch tops out with an emphatic rhinestone encrusted bow and volute ribbons centered with a large oval faceted clear glass stone. Shoots of marquise and chaton rhinestones trail. Art deco and art moderne designs crossover into one sensational statement in this sparkling silver showstopper.
The brooch measures a generous approximate 3 3/8 inches x 2 inches at it's widest point with a 3/8 inch profile or height. Oval glass stone in 18 millimeters x 13 millimeters; largest marquises, 12 millimeters x 6 millimeters. Weigh of the brooch is a hefty 38 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. All components intact. All rhinestones intact and brilliant. No chips, nicks, cracks or breaks to stones. All secure within cup / prong settings. All soldering neat and secure. No dents or improper bends to silver. Sterling has a wonderful, unpolished soft silver patina. Pin mechanism secure. Pin shaft has bends not affecting function. Extremely clean. Excellent vintage.
We believe this piece may have originally been a fur clip and later converted into a brooch. The pin mechanism is neatly and securely soldered to frame. Front presentation is unaffected. Because we are unsure of it's original function, the piece is priced accordingly.
The brooch is stamped on reverse near pin shaft locking wheel: "STERLING". Although we suspect a high end design maker, no additional marks are visible. Circa 1940s.
Say it in sparkling sterling style. Keep it glamorous and green with vintage. At Cody's.
