From the rhinestone encrusted bow loops and ribbon tails to the lacy filigree ballerina skirt and the finial tipped foxtail / snake chain pendant dangles, these late '40s-early '50s vintage are brooches are signature Marcel Boucher designs (some patented) seen in many research and reference books. Although the example presented is unsigned or the mark has been rubbed or is illegible, we know of no other maker who produced this design with this degree of expertise.
The gold tone / silver tone brooch measures an astounding 4 1/2 inches long (worn in it's most vertical position) x 2 1/4 inches at it's widest point with a 1/2 inch maximum profile or height. Weight of the brooch is approximately 28 grams.
Condition is very good to excellent vintage. All components intact. All rhinestones intact, retaining sparkle, although some have dimmed at bit from age. All metal components free from dents, bends or crush. Fox tail or snake chain dangles secure, properly aligned and free from kinks or pulls. Gold tone finish intact, front and back, with some minor wear to bow loops. Bow knot and rhinestone settings' silver tone finish intact. Pin mechanism strong and secure. We think one of the two reverse attachment screws on this sectioned brooch may be a replacement. (This along with the absent or worn signature are reflected in the price.) Clean.
