Variously described as Lucite, resin or thermoset, Trifari's '60s vintage "Spring Song" blooms with lustrous white flowers from shiny and matte silver tone branches. White or chalk colored jewelry was sometimes called summer, seasonal or cruise jewelry. Our example retains it's original sale and Trifari promotional tags, including the brooch's line identification, "Spring Song".
The brooch measures about 2 1/2 inches x 1 1/2 inches with a 3/8 inch profile or height. Largest thermoset blossom is approximately 11 millimeters. Weight of the brooch is 16 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. All component original and intact. All flowers intact and lustrous bright white. No stains or discoloration. Silver tone finish intact, front and back. Some of the branches are shiny, some matte -- original to the piece. No dents or improper bends to the metal. Pin mechanism strong and secure. Extremely clean. No damage / no repairs. Perhaps, never worn. Excellent vintage.
The brooch is signed on reverse: "TRIFAR" preceded by copyright symbol. Original tag include the sales tag printed with the series name: "SPRING SONG", the original price, inventory number and "TRIFARI". Additional black and silver foil promotional tag is emblazoned with "Jewels by TRIFARI" and "TRIFARI, KFUSSMAN AND FISHEL. INC.". It is interesting to note that most references list Krussman spelled with an "R" in the name. This original foiled tag is clearly spelled with an "F" in the name. The brooch dates circa 1960s.
