Marcel Boucher shows us a more whimsical side with his adorable spiny, spiky golden hedgehog brooch, circa 1960s. Myriad flat topped quills sprout from his pin cushioned body. He comes complete with abbreviated tail, four paws, and smooth snout with perky ears and red glass cabochon set eyes. Feeling and looking good, Boucher's hedgehog stakes his claim, no questions asked.
The little fellow measures about 1 1/2 inches x 1 inches with a 5/8 inch profile or height. Weigh of the brooch is approximately 16 grams.
Condition is excellent / near pristine. All gold tone finish intact, front and back. All spikes intact -- no dents or improper bends to metal. Glass cab eyes retain color and glow. Pin mechanism strong and secure. Extremely clean. No damage / no repairs. Near pristine vintage.
Reverse of the pin is signed: "BOUCHER" preceded by the copyright symbol. There is also an inventory or design number of "9173P", indicating the brooch was most likely done by Boucher's wife Sandra after his death in 1965. We believe it dates 1965-1970. The company ceased operations in 1971.
