No stranger to snakes, Whiting & Davis is nearly as synonymous with serpent wrap jewelry as with mesh bags. Always considered a top maker of all things mesh, the company discontinued it's jewelry line in 1991 after some 60+ years in the business of beauty.
The silver tone coil mesh wrap collar / choker necklace presented, circa 1960s-1970s, features silvery scales perfectly articulated and fitted to wrap closely about the neck, bypass style. Textured detailed rigid head and rattled tail portion tip.
The necklace's inside relaxed circumference is about 13 inches. The necklace will expand to about 15 inches, bypass intact. Width is approximately 1/2 inch and thickness, 3/8 inch. Weight is about 68 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. All components intact. All silver tone finish intact and lustrous, front and back. No rubs, discoloration or stains. All "scales" intact, aligned and secure. Coil retains memory and shape. Minimal wear. Extremely clean. No damage / no repairs. Excellent vintage.
Reverse of head portion is signed within familiar cartouche: "WHITING & DAVIS CO." "MESH" heads and "BAGS" underscores. Circa 1960s-1970s.
Get choked up with Whiting and Davis' sinewy serpent. Give in to your temptations. At Cody's.
