1980s vintage Ciner earrings. Big and bold were the catch words of the day and what better example of the excessive '80s than these wonderful statement earrings from the venerable Ciner company. Huge, luminous faux pearl cabs with an almost iridescent sheen are surrounded by wide, heavy rigid goldtone chain links. Every inch is Ciner and it shows in the top quality materials, construction and workmanship. Regardless of the era, (and there were many for Ciner) the firm always stepped up to the plate to produce some of the finest examples of high fashion jewelry.
The clip earrings pictured measure a respectable approximate 1 3/8 inches across with a 5/8 inch dome or profile. The faux pearl cabs are about 19 millimeter across. Weight of the pair of earrings is approximately 38 grams.
Condition is excellent / pristine vintage. All components original and intact. Faux pearls retain all nacre and luster and are incredibly luminous with high sheen. No nicks, chips, scratches or abrasions to faux pearls. All goldtone finishes intact, front and back. Clips, complete with original, clean slip covers, are strong and secure. All soldering neat and secure. No damage / no repairs.
Earrings are fully signed. Each original clip is signed "CINER" followed with the symbol for Registered ("R" within a circle). Reverse of each earring body is signed two times, each within a rectangular cartouche with "CINER" followed by the copyright symbol -- once at clip contact point and once at clip crux. You will also see the telltale Ciner circles impressed on the reverse of the earring bodies. No doubt about the maker of these beauties!
For over a century Ciner has created jewelry -- fine during the early years, morphing into fashion jewelry in the early 1930s. Whatever period, their jewelry was of the highest quality. Ciner's commitment to customers' satisfaction has endured.
