Tammey Jewels, founded by Jean Barnes in Indianapolis, IN produced jewelry from circa 1961-1980s. Some pieces were commissioned by Hollycraft, hence possible likenesses. Examples are scarce so it is with pleasure we present this wonderful '60s vintage ravishing red rhinestone shield style brooch in gold tone. Center is set with a chaton rhinestone. Marquises rhinestone fan out topped with a crest of pear shaped rhinestones. All prong set stones are in a uniform shade of Burmese red. The brooch is slightly domed with pear shaped crest stones rake set.
The brooch measures a respectable 2 1/2 inches x 1 3/4 inches at it's widest point with a maximum 5/16 inch profile or height. Center chaton rhinestone is 8 millimeters; marquises, 15 millimeters x 7 millimeters. Weight of the brooch is about 18 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. All components original and intact. All rhinestones retain color and brilliance. No off, cloudy or dead stones. No chips, nicks, cracks or breaks to stones. No dents, improper bends or crush to metal components. Gold tone finish intact, front and back. Pin mechanism secure. Minimal wear. No damage / no repairs. Excellent vintage.
The brooch is signed on reverse within an oval cartouche: "TAMMEY JEWELS". Circa 1960s.
