Whatever your cause wear your ribbons robustly. Wonderful, large '60s-'70s vintage bow with trailing ribbons brooch features gold tone roped edging, pink enameling and spectacular unfoilied and open backed translucent round and oval red glass cabochons. Castlecliff quality is excellent with pronged glass stones, substantial metal settings, and lustrous enamel highlights.
Castlecliff, sometimes signed Castlemark, was in business from about 1918-1977. The Castlecliff mark was first used in 1941. In later years the company became part of Carnegie Industries and subsequently Lucien Piccard. One of it's brightest stars was, of course, Larry Vrba, Miriam Haskell's head designer from 1973-1981. He tenure at Castlecliff in the early '70s yielded a successful line of pre-Columbian inspired jewelry. Castlecliff's designs tend to be bold and quite beautiful in their straight forward style and simplicity.
The brooch presented measures a generous 3 1/2 inches x 2 1/4 inches at it's widest point with a 1/2 inch profile or height. Oval and round cabs are approximately 8 millimeters and 10 millimeters. Weight of the brooch is a hefty 44 grams.
