Get you serving of vegetables with Har's enamel artichoke brooch. From Hargo Jewelry Company's '60s vintage line of fruit and vegetable figural pins, the artichoke adds a bit of whimsy with a single gold tone leaf studded with tiny faux seed pearls. As expected Har's enamel work is outstanding with variants and gradations of color. Wonderful dimension, as well.
The Hargo Jewelry Company of New York was likely in business in the 1950s and 1960s. It is noted for it's Oriental, genie and dragon works. Imaginative designs in figural and fantasy art jewelry were also the company's forte.
The artichoke pin presented measures approximately 1 1/2 inches x 1 1/4 inches with a 1/2 inch profile or dome. Weight of the brooch is 20 grams.
