Weiss, aka Weissco, was formed by Albert Weiss in 1942 and proliferated until 1980. Known for it's black diamond look, long stemmed beauties, figurals and Christmas jewelry, Weiss is considered one of the leaders in the trade.
The butterfly measures approximately 2 1/4 inches x 1 3/4 inches with a 1/4 inch profile or height. Larger black chaton rhinestones are about 4 millimeters. Weight of the brooch is 18 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. All components original and intact. All black rhinestones retain superb sheen and sparkle. No chips, nicks, cracks or breaks to stones. All metal components free from dents or improper bends. All enameling intact, front and back. Pin mechanism secure. Extremely clean. No damage / no repairs. Excellent vintage.
Reverse of brooch is signed: "WEISS" preceded by copyright symbol. Circa 1960s.
