Known for her high fashion jewelry, Thelma Deutsch's reign was brief (circa 1980-1995) but left an indelible mark on the pages of fashion history. Often large and filled with glittering crystals and rhinestones, her pieces were meant to be seen and seen again. The bigger, the brighter, the better. Check out these examples of her work, circa 1980s. The clip earrings, in pewtertone finish, are prong set with marquise rhinestones in pink, fuchsia, amethyst, teal, peridot aquamarine and blue colors. They fan out from a large emerald cut rhinestone in sapphire blue. Gorgeous colors and sparkle -- signature Deutsch.
The earrings are 1 7/8 inches x 1 3/8 inches at their widest point. (Earrings are worn point down). The emerald cut stones are approximately 17 millimeters x 12 millimeters. The marquise stones are about 13 millimeters x 6 millimeters.
Condition is excellent vintage. All stones intact, retaining colors and sparkle. All pewtertone (gun metal) finish intact, front and back. Earring clips strong and secure. No damage / no repairs.
Reverse of one of the earrings is signed within an oval cartouche "THELMA DEUTSCH".
Thelma Deutsch jewelry was produced for only a short time so supplies are limited and pieces are difficult to find. The high voltage beauties offered are prime examples of what Deutsch and the era were all about.
