Patented by Alfred Philippe in September of 1954, Trifari's rhinestone brooch exemplifies the design style of the company's "Pat. Pend." years -- roughly from the '40s to 1954 -- trails, sprays and bouquets of flowers and foliage extending from rhinestone set volutes, coronets and columns gleaming against burnished gold tone settings.
The circular brooch presented is arced with double vines set with pear shaped purple rhinestones. Channel set clear baguette rhinestones and a single chaton accent.
The brooch measures approximately 1 1/2 inches across with a 1/4 inch profile or height. Pear shaped amethyst colored rhinestones are about 6 millimeters. Weight of the brooch is 14 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. All components original and intact. All "white" rhinestones uniformly clear and brilliant. No dark, yellow, cloudy or dead stones. All purple rhinestones retain even color and sparkle. Burnished gold tone finish intact, front and back with age appropriate patina. No dents or bends to metal components. Pin mechanism secure. Extremely clean. No damage / no repairs. Excellent vintage.
Reverse of brooch is signed "TRIFARI" and "PAT. PEND." Circa 1954.
