The Hollywood Jewelry Manufacturing Company, circa 1938-1971, also fabricated jewelry for famous makers Weiss, Kramer and Pakula. It adopted the Hollycraft name in 1948, subsequently producing the immensely popular pastel rhinestone line in the early 1950s. The palette of pastels became a signature look for Hollycraft and has remained a favorite among collectors and aficionados.
The domed brooch presented, in brass tone features an array of the chaton, oval and pear shaped pastel stones in pink, aqua, and three shades of green. Stones are built up to showcase the pinnacle stone -- a large oval. The pin measures a generous 2 1/2 inches x 2 inches with a 5/8 inch profile or dome. Largest oval stone is about 18 millimeters x 13 millimeters. Next largest ovals are approximately 9 millimeters x 6 millimeters. Weight of the brooch is 38 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. All stones intact, retaining color and sparkle. A small portion of the stones have dimmed slightly, not affecting overall presentation. The large center oval stone has some minor foil loss at bottom vertical facet, shown in photo of brooch reverse. No chips, nicks, cracks or breaks to stones. No dents or improper bends to metal components. Minor brass tone finish wear to contact points. Pin mechanism secure. Clean. No damage / no repairs. Excellent vintage.
Reverse of brooch is signed "HOLLYCRAFT" and "COPR. 1951".
