Joseph and Lincoln Mazer founded Mazer Bros. in New York in 1923. The brothers split in 1946, each forming his own company -- Joseph branding "joseph Mazer", "Mazer" and "Jomaz" from 1946-1981 and Lincoln incorporating "Mazer Bros." from 1946-1951. Famous for his own company, Marcel Boucher formerly worked with the Mazer brothers. Both houses (Mazer and Boucher) were know for their exquisite attention to detail, using only the highest quality materials and workmanship, especially in their designs mimicking fine jewelry.
The brooch presented with the less encountered Mazer Bros stamp, features a richly plated gold tone stylized spray of leaves with offshoots of clear baguette, pave' and chaton rhinestones. The focal centerpiece is the large green glass cabochon, richly marbled / veined with hints of golden glitter. At south, leafy springs encase a clear chaton rhinestone.
The brooch measures approximately 1 3/4 inches x 1 3/8 inches with a maximum 7/16 inch profile or height. Marbled cab is about 18 millimeters; largest chatons, 4 millimeters. Weight of the brooch is approximately 16 grams.
