HAR (Hargo Jewelry Company of New York, circa 1950s-1960s) is widely known for it's outstanding dragon, genie and Oriental designs. It also produced wonderful whimsical enamel figurals, often with unusual color combinations, as exemplified by the adorable mouse pin presented.
In a greenish gray enamel. replete with subtle shading, she stands in gleeful awe, one "hand" planted firmly on cheek. Huge ears stand at attention, one inner enameled in orange outlined with tiny faux seed pearls. A crisp cocoa colored bow knots at tail. Various addition enamel touches in white and black accent. Blue rhinestones sparkle as eyes.
The dimensional gold tone brooch measures approximately 1 1/2 inches x 1 1/8 with a maximum 1/2 inch profile or height. Blue rhinestone chatons are about 2 millimeters. Weight of the brooch is 14 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. All components intact. Enamel intact with little sign of wear. No chips, crack or peeling. All simulated seed pearls intact, retaining nacre and luster. Rhinestones intact, retaining color and sparkle. No dents or improper bends to metal components. All soldering secure. Gold tone finish intact, front and back. Pin mechanism secure. Clean. No damage / no repairs. Minimal wear. Excellent vintage.
Reverse of brooch is signed: "HAR" copyright symbol preceding. Circa 1950s-1960s.
