The Regina Novelty Company of New York City was founded by the Polowitz family. It produced high quality costume jewelry from about 1950-1970 under the name Regency or Regency Jewels.
The brass tone chevron shaped brooch presented, circa 1950s-1960s features jet black marquise and chaton rhinestone in various sizes. At top wonderful black glass beads sprout, some in satin or matte finish with shiny black polka dots and others with traditional lustrous facets.
The not so basic black beauty from Regency.
The brooch measures approximately 2 1/2 inches x 1 1/2 inches with a 3/4 inch profile or height. Largest marquises rhinestones are about 15 millimeters x 7 millimeters; largest chatons, approximately 10 millimeters and largest black beads, 8 millimeters. Weight of the brooch is 24 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. All components intact. All beads and rhinestones intact with no chips, nicks, cracks or breaks. All soldering secure. Metal has developed a rich brass tone patina. No polishing done. Clean. No damage / no repairs. Excellent vintage.
Reverse of brooch is signed within an oval cartouche: "REGENCY JEWELS" preceded by copyright symbol. Circa 1950s-1960s.
