The Hargo Jewelry Company of New York made HAR jewelry from the 1950s-1960s. It is revered for it's Oriental pieces, genies and dragons, as well as superb enamel work. The charming frog brooch presented showcases stripes of lustrous red enamel on his back, legs positioned to leap at any moment and large luminescent red glass cabochon "see all" eyes. His highly dimensional body is done in a warm gold tone finish. With a bit of whimsy HAR delivers the goods in it's signature figural design, expert enamel work and effective embellishments.
The brooch measures nearly 2 inches (1 7/8 inches) x 1 1/2 inches with a 1/2 inch profile or height. Cabochon eyes are about 5 millimeters. Weight of the brooch is 24 grams.
Condition is excellent / near pristine vintage All components original and intact. All enamel intact, retaining sheen and color. No chips, cracks, nicks, flea bites or rubs. Gold tone finish intact, front and back. Super patina. Red glass cabochon eyes retain color and luminescence. No dents, bends, crush or collapse to metal. Pin mechanism strong and secure. Extremely clean. No damage / no repairs. Near pristine vintage.
Reverse of the brooch is signed: "HAR" preceded by copyright symbol. Circa 1950s-1960s.
