Sherman's reputation for the finest quality vintage costume jewelry is legendary among collectors and aficionados alike. With Sherman you see pieces loaded with brilliant rhinestones yet they never seem heavy or stodgy. Marquise and navette stones were used in abundance -- a trademark of many Sherman creations. All stones were handset. Aurora borealis stones were a favorite and are seen frequently. They are featured in the earrings offered.
Circa 1960s, the double leaf overlay design is employed, filled with exclusively marquise cut stones in various sizes of topaz shades juxtaposed with signature ab rhinestones. Color coordination is high caliber Sherman. Settings are a light goldtone. One "leaf" sits slightly above the other.
The clip earrings measure about 1 1/4 inches x 1 inch with a maximum profile of approximately 1/4 inch. Largest marquise rhinestones are about 10 millimeters x 5 millimeters. Weight of the earrings pair is approximately 10 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. All components original and intact. All stones retain outstanding brilliance and color. Ab finishes intact. Perhaps some tiny surface finish wear under high magnification. Light goldtone metal finish shows some wear on reverse. Soldering neat and secure. Clips strong and secure. No damage / no repairs.
Each original earring clip is signed in block caps with "SHERMAN". Pat. number also stamped on inside of clip near crux.
