A big blast from the past. Fur clips from the forties and fifties tended to be large and lush, often (particularly in the forties) designed in exuberant floral sprays set with rhinestones and / or art glass stones. The exampled offered, circa late '30s -'40s, is a two pieced riveted model crafted in heavy gold tone metal. Top portion is set with variously sized unfoiled and open backed chaton glass stones in what we deem a deep orange, hyacinth shade.
The clip measures an impressive 3 inches x 1 3/4 inches at it's widest point with a 3/8 inch profile or thickness. Largest chatons are approximately 9 millimeters. Weight of the clip is about 38 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. All components original and intact. All pronged stones remain bright and sparkly. All soldered and riveting secure. Age commensurate gold tone wear -- consistent with clips of this material from this era. No dents or improper bends to metal. Reverse two pronged clip strong and secure with tight, snap shut grip. Clean. No damage / no repairs. Excellent vintage.
The clip is not signed or the mark has worn. It dates circa 1940s.
