An unusual specialty rhinestone and glass faux moonstones star in this '40s vintage sterling silver crown pin. At center, a scepter style, diamond shaped, faceted flat back green rhinestone is flanked by oval glass faux moonstone cabochons. An outside the box combination of teal, black, burgundy and green rhinestones surround. The crown remains with it's original, unpolished sterling patina.
The crown measures about 1 1/2 inches x 1 1/2 inches with a 7/16 inch profile or height. Green specialty rhinestones is approximately 16 millimeters x 10 millimeters; faux moonstones, about 13 millimeters x 9 millimeters. Weight of the brooch is approximately 16 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. The simulated moonstones and center green specialty stone are original. The surrounding chatons, although in an unconventional color combination and placement may also be original -- we're not sure. All stones are intact and remain brilliant / lustrous. No chips, nicks, cracks or breaks to stones. No dents, improper bends, crush or collapse to sterling. The brooch is clean and remains in it's unpolished state. It does have a heavy patina that may include areas of tarnish -- particularly on reverse. As most buyers prefer the option to polish or not, the brooch retains it's age commensurate patina. No damage / no repairs. Excellent untouched vintage.
Reverse of the brooch is marked "STERLING". It is a faint, yet legible stamp. Circa 1940s.
