Trifari's simulated pearl and rhinestone pieces in newly minted Trifanium finish were extremely hot items in the 1950s-1970s. Botanical themes proliferated -- flowers, blossoms, trees, leaves, sprays, ferns, fronds, bouquets -- all washed in Trifari's golden or platinum toned Trifanium finish. During this time frame pieces were often embellished with imitation pearls and accent rhinestones. Though many were large and layered, they exuded a light, airy feel -- often featuring pierced or cut out leaf work, trailing ribbons or tendrils and crossing branch / stems. Trifari's fleur de mer flourished.
The leafy pearl and rhinestone brooch presented in golden Trifanium measures approximately 3 1/8 inches x 1 7/8 inch at it's widest point with a 1/4 inch maximum profile or height. Largest pearls are about 5 millimeters; smallest, about 3 millimeters. Weight of the brooch is 28 grams.
