As verified pieces of DeLizza & Elster, you can be assured you're getting the real thing -- in fabulous faux, of course. This design can be seen in Julia C. Carroll's "Collecting Costume Jewelry 303", as well as other reference books. Frank DeLizza of D & E mentions in his book "Memories of a Fashion Jewelry Manufacturer" that employee Tony Zangara came up with the idea of using filigree beads or balls as part of this design. Considered an innovative, bold move in the early 1960s, integrated golden filigree beads, balls, and domes remained popular in a variety of DeLizza & Elster designs.
The gorgeous bracelet and earrings set presented, a perfect example of this golden filigree bead work, is paired with faux jade marquise cabochons and sparkling clear rhinestones. The design also came in faux turquoise and imitation hematite cabs. In this signature five link bracelet, rhinestone surrounded and topped filigree balls are connected with glass faux jade marquises with rhinestone accents. Clip earrings follow the theme with a single filigree ball, rhinestone accents and a trio of faux jade marquises. Truly, one of Juliana's finest examples of integrated filigree bead work.
The bracelet measures approximately 7 inches x 1 inch with a 1/2 inch profile or dome. It is secured with an arrow embossed fold over clasp and detachable safety chain. Matching, climber style clip earrings are about 1 1/2 inches x 7/8 inch. Marquises are approximately 15 millimeters x 7 millimeters; largest chaton rhinestones, 5 millimeters. Weight of the bracelet and earrings set is approximately 74 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. All components intact. All rhinestones intact and brilliant. No dark or dead stones. All glass marquises free from chips, nicks, cracks or breaks with wonderful green mottled / marbled jade green color. All gold tone finishes intact, fronts and backs. Excellent / near pristine vintage.
The set is not signed. It is an accepted and well documented DeLizza & Elster design. Circa 1963.
