Albert Weiss of New York, aka WEISSCO NY (1942-1971) known for it's black diamond look, long stemmed beauties, pave' icing and rhinestone Christmas trees and butterflies presents us with this fabulous pair of huge, domed headlight rhinestone earrings in substantial antiqued silver tone settings, circa 1950s.
The earrings showcase high profile pronged and dog tooth pronged large blue aurora borealis chaton rhinestones surrounded with a lower level or tier of blue cup set chaton rhinestones. This tier rises up by a vertical fleur de lis pattern set upon a beaded, scalloped base -- akin to a three layer cake. Decorated by Weiss.
The clip earrings measures approximately 1 1/8 inches across with a generous 1/2 inch profile or dome. Blue headlight ab chaton rhinestones are an amazing 16 millimeters. Surrounding chatons are difficult to gauge-- in the 3 millimeters to 4 millimeters range. Weight of the earrings pair is 26 grams.
Condition is excellent / pristine vintage. All components original and intact. Headlight rhinestones free from scratches, chips, nicks, cracks or breaks with like new color and aurora borealis treatment. Encircling blue chaton rhinestones retain superb color and brilliance. All antiqued silver tone finish intact, fronts and backs. Earring clips strong and secure. Extremely clean. Appear rarely worn. Minimal wear. No damage / no repairs. Pristine vintage.
Reverse of each earring body is signed within an oval cartouche (first used in 1951) "WEISS". The presence of aurora borealis finish in conjunction with the style of mark and overall presentation suggest a mid to late 1950s vintage.
