The Dan Kasoff Company of New York produced signed Florenza jewelry from 1948-1981. It's signature look featured interesting and unusual stones (notably saphiret glass) in creative color combinations as well as expert metal work with antiqued finishes. The firm also manufactured jewelry for such powerhouses as Weiss, Kramer, Coro, Capri and Carnegie. In addition, Florenza created dresser accessories under it's own name and for cosmetic company giant Estee Lauder. Mr. Kasoff designed a line of Maltese cross jewelry featuring wonderful rhinestone and art glass stones in antiqued finishes. An example is pictured above.
The Maltese cross earrings presented, circa 1960s, feature antiqued silver tone settings showcasing a high rise, faceted blue glass round brilliant, unfoiled and open backed. At each of the four corners is an oval, luminous green glass cabochon. Bold with a royal, heraldic air, the shield style, Maltese cross clip earrings are a perfect example of the high quality, well designed jewelry Florenza is known for.
The earrings measures approximately 1 inch across with a 3/8 profile or height. Blue chatons are about 14 millimeters; green glass ovals, 7 millimeters x 5 millimeters. Weight of the earrings pair is 20 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. All components original and intact. Blue glass stones free from chips, nicks, cracks, or breaks. Superb color. Green ovals retain color, luminescence and luster. All antiqued silver tone finish intact, fronts and backs. Earring clips strong and secure. Extremely clean. No damage / no repairs. Excellent vintage.
Reverse of each earring body is signed: "FLORENZA" followed by copyright symbol. Circa 1960s.
