In many ways Eugene Joseff was as big a star as the Hollywood royalty he bejeweled. His wife Joan Castle Joseff estimates that Joseff jewelry appeared in thousands of films and television programs, arguably the most well known "Gone With The Wind". Later the team entered the retail market, retaining an exclusive profile by limiting the number of stores that featured the jewels to five hundred nationwide, including Bullocks, Neiman Marcus, Wanamaker's and Marshall Field. Jewelry of the Stars could now be ours.
The dress clip presented, an earlier work, is fabricated in the famous finish Joseff made famous -- brass with it's signature warm patina. Expertly worked metal displays the fine veining and nuanced curls and furls of the humble leaf -- a leaf of legends from the Joseff family tree.
The dress clip measures approximately 2 1/4 inches x 2 inches with a 1/8 inch profile or height. Weight is about 12 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. All components original. No dents, improper bends or crush. Gorgeous brass patina. No stains or scratches. Reverse features oft seen silver tone clip mechanism. Tight, snap shut closure. Clean. No damage / no repairs. Excellent vintage.
Original clip back is signed: "JOSEFF HOLLYWOOD". Circa late '40s - early '50s.
