Alice Caviness began modeling in the fashion industry, founding her own jewelry business circa 1945-1990s. Known for her incredible stones and colors, the example presented features a thick faceted, topaz colored unfoiled and open backed art glass star ingeniously prong set by the "arms" of the surrounding putti. Topped with four rhinestone set stars, the winged cherub quartet is plated in a mix of shiny and matte gold tone.
The brooch measures about 2 inches across with a generous 7/16 inch profile or height. The art glass star is approximately 22 millimeters. Weight of the brooch is about 26 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. All components intact. No chips, nicks, cracks or breaks to art glass star. All rhinestones intact and sparkly. Matte and shiny gold tone finishes intact, front and back. No dents, improper bends, crush or collapse. Prongs secure. Pin mechanism strong and secure. Clean. No damage / no repairs. Excellent vintage.
Reverse of brooch is signed within an oval cartouche: "ALICE CAVINESS", no copyright symbol. Circa 1970s-1980s.
