Go way beyond the basics with Weiss. Wondrous rhinestone and glass bead girandoles in peridot green and peridot aurora borealis leave garden variety chandeliers in the dark. While we believe these earrings are conversions, the facades are genuine, correct Weiss. More on that later. If you are looking for presentation, statement earrings, quite possibly unique, read on...
The adjustable clip back, gold tone pair begin with fans of chaton and pear shaped rhinestones in peridot and aurora borealis. Each earring consists of three sections (the center longest) of articulated, extended T-bar arms are set with bright peridot and aurora borealis round brilliant rhinestone clusters. Faceted crystal glass beads in peridot aurora borealis dangle from fan tops and suspended arms extensions. Glittering. glowing girandoles. Light me up!
The specs impress as well. The earrings measure approximately 2 3/4 inches x 1 1/2 inches at their widest point with a 3/8 profile or thickness. Pear shaped rhinestones are about 13 x 8 millimeters; largest chatons are about 9 millimeters; glass beads, 7 millimeters. Weight of the earrings pair is approximately 50 grams.
Façades are in excellent vintage conditions. All front components original and intact. All rhinestone extremely brilliant, retaining all color and sparkle. Glass beads free from chips, nicks, cracks or breaks. All frontal gold tone finish intact. All T-bar sections retain proper alignment and drape. Earring clips with adjustable, tension control screw backs strong and secure. Reverse gold tone intact, some minor wear as noted in paragraph below. Extremely clean. Spectacular presentation earrings. Excellent vintage, as noted.
The earrings appear to be conversions. They may have been some type of clips previously or even part of a necklace -- we're not sure. They seem to be additional attachment areas on reverses -- on either side of the current clips. The adjustable screw clip cups (connection points) are securely soldered to rhinestone cup backs. They seem to have been done quite professionally, although you can see some solder discoloration and some silver tone base metal from filing / buffing. We don't know if the earring backs are Weiss components but we do know that the façades are definitely Weiss as they display their original oval Weiss cartouches. The bottom line: original Weiss façades possibly converted to earrings. Please consider.
Reverse of each earring's center arm bottom signed with an oval cartouche: "WEISS" no copyright symbol. Circa 1950s-1960s.
