A very elegant and beautiful Antique French Sterling Silver Sugar Sifter or Serving Spoon from early 19th Century for your consideration. The spoon is wholly made of finest quality French sterling silver .950 purity, having gorgeous Scallop shaped bowl with intricate piercing. The handle is adorned with lovely hand engraving foliage pattern, having beautiful interlaced monogram "LD" in shield shaped cartouche. Excellent condition as age and ready to grace your table!
As hallmarks we have French Michel-Ange No.1 mark (Vieillard) which guaranteed .950 purity sterling silver, used in Paris 1819 till 1838. This is one of the highest quality silver in the world, purer than standard .925 sterling. The maker's mark is that of "Louis Balthazard" 172 rue Saint-Martin, worked in Paris between 1823 till 1833. There are also two silver guarantee marks of Paris.
