Offered for your consideration is a fabulous Antique French Sterling Silver Sugar Sifter or serving spoon from early 19th Century. The spoon has a lovely contoured engraving pattern on the handle, embellished with highly detailed hand engraving Coat of Arms with a pair of shields and two lion supporters. It is wholly made of finest quality French sterling silver .950 purity and weighs heavy 2.75 oz (77.9g.) Excellent condition and ready to grace your table.
As hallmarks we have French Rooster No.1 mark (Coq) which guaranteed .950 purity sterling silver, used in Paris 1809 till 1819. This is one of the highest quality silver in the world, purer than standard .925 sterling. The maker's mark can read "GC." There are also two silver guarantee marks of Paris.
