This is a timeless classic elegance, Antique French Sterling Silver Serving Spoon from early 19th Century. This simple yet elegant serving piece is wholly made of finest quality French sterling silver .950 purity, weighs heavy 4.30 oz (122g) and measures large 11.8 inch (30.2cm) long. The design is sophisticated uni-plat style on the handle and classic pointed top on the bowl. There is hand engraved monogram "AL" with interlaced scripts on the reverse side of the handle. As handsome as useful, this beautiful 19th Century's antique serving spoon would make a great addition to your collection!
As hallmarks we have a woman in hexagon mark, which guaranteed the finest quality French sterling silver .950 purity, used between 1819-1838 in departements (outside of Paris). This is one of the best quality sterling silver in the world, higher than standard .925 sterling silver. It also stamped the guarantee mark of Departements, used in 1819 till 1838, and another guarantee mark (crab) used since 1838; probably re-controlled in the past. Maker's mark with initial "VA" and crescent moon and a star.
11 3/8" (30.2cm) long x 2 1/4" (5.8cm) wide, weight 4.30 oz (122g)
Excellent Condition considering its age. Trace of light use, some light age-related scratches to the surface to note. Otherwise in quite excellent shape. Please refer the detail photos I added.
