This is where it gets fun. Researching era's where jewelry defined the times. Etruscan is one of those era's. This is an Etruscan Revival necklace with a large medallion with a Green Marbled Cabochon. It is surrounded by a gold toned wreath, with etched bows on the top and bottom, and flowers and vines go between each bow on both sides. The length is 3 1/4" x 21/4" wide and 1/4" thick. It weighs 2.4 oz. The chain is an elongated link, each measuring 3/4", and the 14 1/2" length is a non-adjustable closed chain. The entire length is 19" and its full weight is 3.9 oz.
Etrusia was in the area of Tuscany. They come from more of a Greecian back ground. From the 7th to the 5th centuries the Etruscans story can be seen in their transition in jewelry design. They transitioned from the Villanovan era and they were influenced by Egypt and techniques they used like faience, granulation, and filigree. The Romans ended up over running the Etruscans from 3rd and 2nd centuries BC.
