If you love Peacock Blue Jewelry then this is the brooch for you. The centerpiece of this 2 3/4" by 2 1/4" brooch is a gold tone Oak Leaf that has been adorned with peacock blue rhinestones that resemble an open peacock tail feathers. The 60 stones are each pronged set and each set is riveted in place. There are two empty beveled sets but nothing can fit in them. I think they are a type of spacer. The pin assembly is riveted at the 3rd hole from the clasp and has some movement because of it. 59 stones are the smaller ones and the 60th stone is the big stone towards the bottom of the brooch. The entire brooch weighs 22 grams. The brooch is unsigned & in excellent condition.
Obviously the maple leaf has been a favorite design for jewelry makers for centuries. However, I was researching and found that King George VI of England had given his wife, Queen "Mother" Elizabeth, a maple leaf brooch to commemorate her 1939 trip to Canada. Kate Middleton was loaned the brooch from Queen Elizabeth II for her and Prince Williams tour of America in 2011.
