For your consideration, a rare circa 1960’s-1970’s hand-loomed hanging tapestry by Elisabeth Hablik-Lindemann (1879-1960). The tapestry measures 41”x 21” and is in excellent condition with no damage or repairs, and is affixed to it original wooden hanging rod. The colors of the woven woolen fibers are vibrant and saturated; the piece displays impeccable modernist aesthetics and superb craftsmanship. The work was designed by Elisabeth Lindemann (German, 1879–1960) and created at the Sri Aurobindo Ashram, India. This magnificent tapestry adds a wonderful presence to any environment it is placed in, and makes a spirited, yet serene, addition to a child's room or entry room.
Ashram Information: Hablik and Elisabeth Lindemann- Hablik, originally "Handweberei Hablik-Lindemann", started as a firm in Germany. The products were shown to the Mother. Appreciative as She was of all artistic endeavor, She encouraged her and told her to continue the work here under the original German name and logo. Handweberei Hablik-Lindemann, which started in 1966 comprises two units: hand weaving and handicrafts. In the hand weaving unit, cloth, bedspreads, placemats and napkins are made. The handicrafts unit specializes in wall hangings, crochet items and stuffed toys.
