For your consideration, a vintage hand colored black and white silver gelatin print by the photographer Eva Weiss. The work is noteworthy for its ethereal quality and the intimacy between subject and photographer. Weiss’s photographs that were created in the 1970’s often had same sex couples as the subject and this early work reflects her direct, yet romanticized, approach to portraiture. Weiss’s present works are created and manipulated digitally; her original hand-colored silver gelatin images display richer ethereal and theatrical qualities . The work is in excellent condition and is signed “Eva Weiss 1977” and measures 6 5/8” x 4 5/8” (14” x 11” frame). Born in Philadelphia, Weiss received her BFA from Rochester Institute of Photography. She has exhibited in the Kenan Center, Lockport NY, Photopia Gallery, Archive Gallery; Iggy’s Study, “An Auction of Contemporary Photographers”; “Photographs by Eva Weiss and Bill Brandt” at Mancini Gallery; “Eva Weiss Photographs” at the William Lyon’s Gallery, as well as at the Leslie Loeman Gallery, Foto Gallery, and the George Eastman House.
