For your consideration, an exceptionally modernist ceramic vase, circa 1961. This masterful work measures 13" tall with a 7" x 6" base and weighs over 3 lbs. The piece is noteworthy for its interesting shape; it displays a wildly organic flared mouth atop a long elegant neck, which artfully protrudes from its boulder-like body. The glaze is predominantly blue-green and dark cinnamon brown in color. It is in excellent condition, with no chips or signs of wear and is signed, somewhat illegibly, "Coriota" or "Coviota" and dated 1961. The piece was found in northern California and is most certainly of Californian origin, and a very fine mid-century studio work.
