For your consideration, a rare modernist glass vase by the American artist Ivan Treskow. This work is significant for the time period time in which it was created (1972) as well as for its impeccable design aesthetics. The work is massive; it stands 17 ½" (44.3 cm) tall, is 5" wide (12.7cm), and weighs 3 ½ lbs. Created in blue-green glass, the piece is noteworthy for its elegant lines and stylized body, base, and mouth. There is a lava-like quality to the treatment of its form, which features free form concave shapes; the work seems to be in constant flow and movement. The piece is signed "I. Treskow '72" . Ivan Treskow is a first generation glass blower of the American art glass revival movement of the mid-twentieth century. He is also a professor at the University of Hawaii, and has taught many in the art of traditional glass blowing techniques. This vase is in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks, or repairs and is a fine and rare example of 20th century American art glass, as well as a unique piece of Hawaiian arts and crafts.
