Oh my, it IS massive! Measuring 28" x 18" and weighing a full 10lbs, this absolutely wonderful handcrafted teak candelabra is composed of over 30 hand-crafted and turned segments that fit together without glue or screws. This elegant and refined piece is most probably from the 1970's and was found in the artisan community of Humboldt, California, an area famous for fine woodworking (the piece is unsigned). The design is very Scandinavian and the piece's presence must be experienced first-hand to be fully appreciated; although the piece is massive, it has a lightness and vitality that is consistent with the epoch in which it was created -an era of experimentation and creative energy. The candelabra features three delta-shaped tiers of candle holders, which terminate with a candle at the top, and is in excellent condition with just the usual vintage wear (including some singed areas to the candle holes) with no loss to any of its handmade components. This is the finest vintage 1970's candleholder and accent piece that I have ever found in my years of collecting and it looks magnificent in a mid-century modern setting. You could illuminate a motion picture film set with this piece!
