For your consideration, a large lidded earthen bowl, circa 1950’s-1970’s. This highly stylized hand-thrown ceramic bowl features organic free-form polymorphic shaped handles, fused decorative elements, and rich blue glazing. The bowl and lid measures 9 ¾” in diameter, 11 ½” width at the handles, and 5” tall. The work is massive and weighs 8 ½ lbs, and is in excellent vintage condition, save for several small chips and firing cracks (non-structural). The work was acquired in the Pacific Grove, 19 mile Drive area of Northern California (adjacent to Asilomar), and is identified on the lid’s verso with a “target” maker’s mark. A spectacular museum grade 20th century ceramic studio work.
