For your consideration, a stunningly mid-century original serigraph, “The Offshore Wind” by Elton Bennett (1910-1974). The work depicts a working fishing boat with a dreamlike image of four-mast schooner in the background. The serigraphs colors are saturated and intense with subtle color gradations and areas of rich details. The original serigraph measures 23” x 16” and is in excellent condition with no foxing stains or creases. The serigraph does have one area that exhibits fine white lines that were created during its creation and are not damage (please refer to photographs for specific condition). The print is signed on the plate. Elton Bennett serigraphs depict the Pacific Northwest coastal environment and give glimpses of the working lives of the people the artist knew and worked with all his life. Bennett grew up in Hoquiam in the Grays Harbor region of the Washington Coast, where mill work, fishing and dredging are common occupations, and Bennett himself knew many years of firsthand experience at them. The work being offered is most probably from the 1960’s and was completed some years before Bennett’s untimely death in a plane crash.
