For your consideration, a framed vintage black and white gelatin silver print of a sandstone rock formation in Point Lobos, Carmel, CA. The work is noteworthy for its fine grain, long tonal range, and impeccable composition. The photograph is in excellent vintage condition with no stains or tears , and measures 10 ¾” x 8 ½” (17” x 16” framed). The print is unsigned, and was most probably created prior to 1966, which is when a stationers shop replaced the framing shop that had framed the work. Point Lobos was the subject of many photographs created by Edward Weston, Annie Brigman, Ansel Adams, and many other notable 20th century photographers. The photograph being offered was quite possibly created by a member of Carmel’s “Friends of Photography”, or other local photographer. This masterfully printed 20th century image is most probably circa 1970’s.
