For your consideration, a mid century oil on canvas board modernist still life. The still life is noteworthy for its strong dynamic composition and modernist aesthetic; the work displays interesting symbolism in its metaphoric use of reductionist symbolism in the “Artist” book, African head, and empty dish. In addition, the graphic rendering of the details in the curtain is, likewise, noteworthy. The circa 1940-1955 painting is in excellent condition with no loss of paint or damage of any kind and measures 23” x 17”, and is housed in its 29” x 23 ½” beautiful original wood frame. The work is signed, though illegibly; the signature is to the left of the paintings sculpture and the artist’s name begins with a “K”.
