For your consideration, an early 1960’s polychrome salt fired ceramic jug or vase from Israel. The work, in mint condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs, measures 5” tall and is 6” in diameter. The vase is noteworthy for its raised white bubble glaze, incised geometric glazed details, and white glaze interior. The piece is signed and dated “Haifa 1961”, with other hand incised maker’s notations and signature. This unusual mid century ceramic piece is most probably meant to replicate the look of a hand stitched jug. A great example of 20th century Modernist ceramic design, and one that shows wonderfully in a mid century environment.
