For your consideration, a oil on canvas painting by the noted Canadian artist Alexander Kwartler (b.1924). This fine work, in excellent condition with no damage or repairs, measures 16" x 12" within its 24 ¾' x 21" original period carved wood frame. The work exhibits both modernist and traditional European School aesthetics in the partially abstracted figures as well as in the similarly expressionist neighborhood cityscape. The colors are vibrant and the paint handling is strong and vital. The painting is signed and dated, with other notations on the paintings verso. Alex Kwartler's work are part of museum collections and his exhibitions include shows at the Galerie Lelong, New York, and gallery Kraupa-Tuskany Zeidler. Articles include `Alex Kwartler & Elke Solomon' at Klaus von Nichtssagend Gallery' written by Will Heinrich for New York Observer in 2013.
