For your consideration, a fine polychrome glazed ceramic vase, featuring a motif of overlaid geometric fields in colors of blue, gray, cinnamon and blue-green, over highly fired red clay. The work is signed on the piece’s lower body in an illegible script; I believe the piece to be either of American or French origin, and most probably dates from the 1970’s (though it is possible that it could be either earlier, in the case if it being of European origin). The vase’s glaze is reminiscent of Michael Casson’s use of geometric fields of color. The vase measures 9” tall, 7 ¾” in diameter, and weighs 4 lbs. The work is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs, though the glaze does show many areas of crackling in which water has left what looks like a calcium residue (see photos). This is an exceptionally beautiful piece.
