The unframed oil on Masonite board painting measures 17 ¾” x 12 ¼” and is in excellent condition with no loss of pigment or damage. The work is noteworthy for it vibrant color palette and dynamic paint handling which features sweeping brush strokes indicative of the Figurative School. This intriguing work was acquired in the artist colony of Mendocino, California; an area noted for its mid and late 20th century modernist artists, which included David Ayers, Emmy Lou Packard, Dorr Bothwell, William Theophilus Brown, and many others. The signature found on the painting is illegible, which makes it difficult to positively identify. An exceptionally dynamic painting created at the apogee of the Northern California Bay Area Expressionist period.
