For your consideration, a vintage unsigned free form carved wood bowl, circa 1970-1985. The bowl is most probably of old growth redwood or possibly of another Northern California native wood. This supremely modernist work features arched-cube legs and a finely fashioned spoon-shaped body with a flat bottom. The bowl measures 7 1/8” x 4 ¾” x 1 ¾” and is excellent condition (see photos). This fine example of studio carved wood was acquired in the California art colony of Mendocino, and area noted for its community of artists. The bowl is reminiscent of work of Dale Stocksdale and Doug Ayers (Ayers created much of his carved wood in Mendocino).
