For your consideration, an art glass vase by the noted American glass artist Nikolas Weinstein (b.1968). The sculpture features a frosted polymorphic matt white body in which a graduated sea green glass flows organically to culminate in a glossy sea green variegated mouth. The work is signed on the base “Weinstein 2004”. The vase is in excellent condition; some minor signs of wear (very minor scuffing with no chips or nicks, see photos), and measures 8” tall and is approximately 5” in width.
Nikolas Weinstein was born in New York City in 1968. His aesthetic derives from a longstanding interest in the natural world. The influence of organic forms in his work dates to a young age, established during internships at The American Museum of Natural History and The Scripps Institution of Oceanography. After graduating college with a degree in comparative literature, he moved to San Francisco, where he briefly worked as an assistant to a prominent graphic designer before founding his studio. Weinstein’s sculptures are predominantly glass; a material the artist is partial to for its incandescent and universal qualities that allow for illusion, which the artist uses to create pieces that “confound one’s expectations of a brittle material.”
