For your consideration, a ceramic horsehair vase created in in a warm buff white smoky body with highly graphic gray-black horsehair and oxide details. Signed “J. L. Rose” (?) .The work derives its distinctive dark oxide filament markings by draping the hair from the mane or tail of a horse while the pottery is still hot from being kiln-fired, creating dark lines before the hair is burned away by the hot pottery. The vase measures 7” tall, 7” diameter with a 3” mouth, in excellent condition with no chips or damage. Most probably circa 1980's-1990's. A wonderful accent piece that shows well with all styles of decor, from traditional to mid-century modern.
