For your consideration, a watercolor and graphite nude study by the listed California artist Jack Laycox (1921-1984), circa late 1960’s-1970’s. The painting displays boldly stylized draftsmanship and a graphic and dynamic palette featuring modernist reds, blues, and subtle shades of black, dark gray, and deep chocolate browns and ochers. Jack Laycox was a California based illustrator of the highest order and this animated modernist work is a fine example of his figure studies. The work has a wonderful feeling of motion and spontaneity and is from Laycox’s most productive and creative period. The unframed work, on heavy textured stock, is in excellent condition and measures 20” x 17 ½”, and is signed by the artist. An exceptionally fine modernist nude study by a noteworthy mid-century American artist, and sure to look striking in your mid-century environment. JL-13
