For your consideration, an unsigned California school art glass vase featuring aurora brown red silver oxide swirls and concentric overlays of roped glass. The artful and asymmetrical vase is most probably a student work from Chico State that, during the 1970’s, was an important center of experimentation in glass blowing design and technique. The vase’s use of silver oxide is indicative of the glass blowing at that college; students and faculty used cotton swabs from local doctors offices, that had been coated with silver salt, to create distinctive color combinations. The work is in excellent vintage condition with no chips or bites and measures 3 ½” tall and 3 ¾” in diameter. A wonderful addition to your collection of 20th Century art glass.
